Jordan set to Di trying

Maybe we were a little more easily shocked when Diana bemoaned, in that infamous Panorama interview, that her marriage was a little crowded. Or maybe because she was a real princess — as opposed to a former glamour model who named her daughter Princess — we forgave her a dig at her husband that likely hurt her children too. In the case of Jordan’s claims that she “felt married to two people”, however, you just wish the woman would get a bit of sense.
Last week, Peter Andre succeeded in having part of his ex-wife’s comments on The Graham Norton Show cut, during which she accused him of having an affair with the woman who managed them — and now manages only Andre — Claire Powell.
Building further on his image as the mature and sensible person in the fractured marriage — doesn’t anyone remember Insania? — Andre calmly refuted his ex’s claims, but in a matter of days, she was back with more. In a magazine interview, Jordan attempted a Diana moment, insisting Powell was a problem in her marriage. “I felt married to two people — Pete and our management,” she said. “And it was like Pete was married to two people, Claire and me.”
It’s hard to know why Jordan even bothers at this stage. Her divorce is just through, she has a new boyfriend and even a new book (to plug), but she still can’t let go of Andre. Or, perhaps, she can’t shake her indignation at how he’s emerged from their relationship smelling of flowers, a far more respected guy than ever before, while she seems an increasingly desperate character.
So, like Diana she’s lashing out at the woman who remains close to her man, a far less glamorous and exciting woman than she, but the woman who’s taken her place nonetheless, albeit not in the manner Jordan means. But if she imagines she will take the place of the People’s Princess, the poor woman’s on a hiding to nothing. We’ve all moved on a long way, even Peter Andre, and maybe it’s time Jordan did too.
