Susan Boyle v Diversity
Jun 1st
In the nail bitting finals of Britain’s Got Talent, it all seemed all too predictable until off course they called out the winner “Diversity”. The 10 members off the dance group from Essex and east London and aged between 12 and 25, couldn’t believe their luck. Ashley Banjo, the groups leader who was praised for his imaginative choreography said ” I am going to wake up any moment”
The group, which includes three sets of brothers, put in a jaw dropping performance and although the other dance group in the finals “Flawless” may have been put in the same category, they certainly were not in the same league, their perfect dance moves lacked creativity and their personalities lacked the lovable unassuming qualities which came natural to Diversity.
As the result was announced the group looked shocked and hugged each other, as Susan put on a brave face saying “The best people won” and wished them “all the best”.
Susan came second with her rendition of Les Miserables song I Dreamed A Dream, the tear jerking performance which earned her the attention of the judges and the world when she sang it at her audition and even though she didn’t bag first place, she is still heading for a recording contract and a £5 million fortune.
In third place was the gorgeous, saxophone player Julian Smith, who played a version of Somewhere from West Side Story and Tonight, the man Piers Morgan once described as “the coolest contestant ever on the show”. Julian has been playing saxophone since he was 14 and is currently a private music teacher and freelance musician.
The judges loved his performance as did the studio audience. Simon Cowell told Julian, “You gave the performance of your life.” Piers Morgan said it was, “The perfect way to end an incredible night,” adding that he was, “Naturally talented.” Amanda assured Julian that his, “dream is not going to end here.”
For me personally, how do I feel now that it’s all over?? Well, I am delighted that Diversity won, thrilled for Susan Boyle and her new found fame, overjoyed to be joining the hoards of women in the Julian Smith’s Fan Club and I will be lost without the hilariously charming Greek father & son that cracked me up everytime I saw them, aside from that I’ll be bored to tears with Sunday’s line up on television and I will await anxiously for the next series.
